Deep Sea Metro takes delivery of drillship

Deep Sea Metro Ltd. has taken delivery of the drillship Deepsea Metro II from Hyundai Heavy Industries.

BERGEN, Norway – Deep Sea Metro Ltd. has taken delivery of the drillship Deepsea Metro II from Hyundai Heavy Industries.

The drillship is a sixth-generation design with ultra-deepwater capability, said Odfjell Drilling. Odfjell drilling has 40% ownership and is responsible for construction follow-up, management, and vessel operations.

The Deepsea Metro II is scheduled to being its first operations for Petrobras offshore Brazil.

“This is the second project for Deep Sea Metro this year and fourth overall that Odfjell Drilling has successfully delivered since the Deepsea Atlantic in 2009,” said Simen Lieungh, president and CEO of Odfjell Drilling. “We are pleased to see that our site team and the yard have succeeded in every way, with regards to safety and schedule.”
