EDINBURGH, UK – Bowleven plans to deepen the Sapele-3 exploration well currently drilling in 30 m (98 ft) water depth in the Douala basin offshore Cameroon.

The location is in block MLHP-5 in the Etinde permit, 16 km (9.9 mi) northwest of the Sapele-1 well and 13 km (8 mi) northwest of the D-1r wells.

Last month, the company reported that Sapele-3 had encountered oil and gas condensate in the Deep Omicron and D-1r equivalent intervals and that drilling within the Deep Omicron interval would continue.

Further MDT sampling and a sidewall core programme have been performed, and the acquired data will now be evaluated. Casing has been set and a liner run pending further drilling.

Bowleven intends to drill on through the Deep Omicron interval into the potentially prospective Epsilon Complex that was previously drilled by Sapele-1, which confirmed then presence of oil and gas condensate.
