SAN DONATO MILANESE, Italy – Eni has started production from the Kitan oil field in the Timor Sea. The location is 240 km (149 mi) south of the Timor-Leste capital of Dili, and 550 km (432 mi) north of Darwin, Northern Australia.

Kitan has been developed via deepwater subsea completion wells connected to an FPSO. Production should build to a peak of 40,000 b/d.

Eni is operator, in partnership with INPEX Timor Sea and Talisman Resources.

Production started within three and half years from the declaration of a commercial discovery. Eni says the development followed a fasttrack schedule, and came in on time and budget.
