SAN RAMON, California – Chevron is reporting two more successful gas wells offshore Western Australia in the Carnarvon basin.

In permit area WA-205-P, both the Acme West-1 and Acme West-2 found gas pay. Acme West-1 counted 377 ft (115 m) of net gas, and Acme West-2 hit 184 ft (56 m) of pay. Well 1 reached TD of 15,558 ft (4,742 m) and Well 2 TD was 14,590 ft (4,447 m). Water depth is 3,035 ft (925 m).

"The discoveries are expected to help underpin potential expansion opportunities at the Wheatstone liquefied natural gas (LNG) hub, which moved to the construction phase in September 2011,” said George Kirkland, vice chairman, Chevron Corp.

Chevron Australia is the operator of the WA-205-P permit and holds a combined 67% interest, while Shell Development (Australia) holds the remaining interest.
