Bengal plans 3D seismic offshore northern Australia

CALGARY, Canada – Bengal Energy Ltd. says it plans a 750 sq km (290 sq mi) 3D seismic program off northern Australia late this year or early in 2012.

The location is in AC/P 47 150 km (93 mi) west of the Vulcan graben production.

Offshore India in block CY-OSN-2009/1 of Cauvery basin, Bengal is reprocessing available seismic data and acquiring some 2D and 3D data recorded in the area by other operators. Acquisition of added seismic data through 1Q 2012 is designed to speed the drilling of an exploration well, Bengal says.
