LONDONAminex has signed a new Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) for the Nyuni concession in the Indian Ocean offshore Tanzania.

The country’s Minister of Energy awarded the 1,690-sq km (652-sq mi) Nyuni Area PSA to Aminex’s wholly-owned Tanzanian subsidiary Ndovu Resources. It replaces the Nyuni-West Songo-Songo PSA which will expire on completion of its full term and compliance with work obligations.

Aminex and its partners have drilled four wells in this area, two of which discovered gas. Earlier this year a 25-year development license was created from the earlier PSA for the Kiliwani North gas field.

The Nyuni Area PSA includes a further four contiguous blocks covering 338 sq km (130 sq mi) to the north of the previous license area. All are relatively unexplored and could contain structures analogous to recent deepwater gas discoveries to the east.

Aminex estimates contingent and prospective resources for the Nyuni PSA at 2.8 tcf. The other partners are RAK Gas and Bounty Oil.
