GLASGOW, UK – SBM has awarded VWS Westgarth a multi-million dollar contract to supply process equipment for the FPSOXikomba.

The floater, which previously operated in block 15 offshore Angola for ExxonMobil, will be relocated to new moorings for a new development project in block 15/06.

VWS Westgarth will design, procure and supply equipment, and provide construction technical assistance for a single-lift module seawater sulfate reduction package (SRP) system with a capacity of 117,455 b/d (18,672 cu m/day).

The company will also supply an integrated seawater reverse osmosis system with a capacity of 12,075 b/d (1,920 cu m/d).

The SRP is designed to remove sulfates and other divalent ions from injection water to enhance oil recovery using Dow Filmtec membranes. Removal of these ions reduces the likelihood barium sulfate and strontium sulfate scale build-up in the reservoir.
