LIMASSOL, Cyprus – Songa Offshore's drilling rig Songa Venus remains warm stacked in Labuan, Malaysia, undergoing maintenance and operational preparedness for a one-year contract in the region for Petronas.
The start of the program has been delayed due to late arrival of equipment. It should now get under way in mid-October.
Earlier this month, the Songa Dee started a three-year contract for Statoil on the Gullfaks field in the Norwegian North Sea.
Songa Eclipse has been delivered from Jurong Shipyard in Singapore and has since moved to Indonesian waters to undergo a contractual upgrade and client operational preparedness work for a contract off Angola. Mobilization to the location should start early next month.
In August Songa Offshore signed eight-year firm contracts for two new build "CAT D" rigs for Statoil.
It has since signed construction contracts for the two units with Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering.
