Offshore staff
VLADIVOSTOK, Russia – Gazprom has commissioned the first startup complex at the Sakhalin – Khabarovsk – Vladivostok gas transmission system (GTS), taking gas supplies to the Primorsky Krai region.
The GTS route starts in Sakhalin Island, crosses the Nevelsky Strait, passes near Komsomolsk-on-Amur and Khabarovsk, and ends close to Vladivostok.
Its total length is more than 1,800 km (1,118 mi), with a capacity in the first startup complex of 6 bcm/yr (212 bcf/yr).
The most complex section of the gas pipeline to install involved a two-string (each 2.8 km, or 1.7 mi) submerged crossing under the Eastern Bosphorus Strait, which was achieved through directional drilling.
At the initial stage the Sakhalin – Khabarovsk – Vladivostok GTS will receive Russian state entitlement gas from the offshore Sakhalin II and Sakhalin I projects.
Later on, its main gas sources will be the offshore Kirinskoye gas and condensate field, and the Kirinsky, Vostochno-Odoptinsky and Ayashsky blocks of the Sakhalin shelf.
