OSLO, Norway – The semisub Borgland Dolphin is now drilling the Phoenix prospect in license PL 559 in the Norwegian Sea.
Rocksource operates the license, in partnership with VNG and Skagen44.
The well is in the Norwegian Sea, 190 km (118 mi) west of Sandnessjøen, in a water depth of 333 m (1,092 ft). Activity will last between 39-46 days, depending on the outcome of the well.
Elsewhere, Premier Oil Norge gas permission from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to drill an exploratory well in PL 406 in the southeastern Norwegian North Sea, using the Bredford Dolphin.
The area comprises parts of blocks 8/3, 9/1, 17/12, 18/10, and 18/11. Well 9/1-1 S will be the first drilled on the license.
