RIO DE JANEIRO – OGX has started installing equipment in preparation for an Extended Well Test (EWT) on the shallow-water Waimea field on block BM-C-41 in the Campos basin.

The company was recently granted an installation license related to the EWT and production development by IBAMA, the Brazilian Institute for Environment and Renewable Natural Resources.

"Upon receiving this license, we immediately began the subsea equipment and the FPSO OSX-1 mooring system installation in the Waimea accumulation, and have entered into the final stages towards production," said Paulo Mendonça, OGX general executive and exploration officer.

The Aker Wayfarer is handling the installations and interconnection of the flexible lines. To start the mooring process, the piles will be driven by a pile-hammer and the buoy will be secured via chains and cables. Once the mooring system in place, the flexible lines will be connected to the buoy followed by connection to the FPSO.

Waimea was discovered in December 2009. The EWT will be conducted using the existing OGX-26HP horizontal well.
