HOUSTON – KBR announced that its subsea subsidiary, Granherne, will fund $50,000 to the University of Houston to assist in the launching of the nation’s first program in subsea engineering.
Dennis Calton, president of KBR Oil & Gas, said: “Subsea engineering is a core discipline for KBR’s Oil & Gas business. Our support of the University of Houston’s Subsea Engineering Program is the most cost-effective way of growing our subsea business. I am confident this endeavor will be successful for the students, KBR and the industry as a whole.”
Through the company’s support, the program will designate four adjunct faculty members as KBR lecturers in subsea engineering for the 2011-2012 academic year. These individuals will pair a strong academic understanding of subsea engineering issues with their own expertise. With an engineering perspective honed in the energy industry, these faculty members will help teach students about the expectations and demands they will face in the coming years.
