Offshore staff
VLISSINGEN, the Netherlands – Heerema Fabrication Group (HFG) has completed construction of two platforms contracted by RWE Dea UK for fields in the southern North Sea.
At HFG’s yard in Vlissingen, the 900-ton jacket and 2,300-ton topsides for the Clipper South platform were built within 14 months of the contract award in April 2010. The topsides, which can accommodate 40 personnel, sailed out of Vlissingen to its final destination last month and were installed offshore on Aug. 27, in a water depth of around 23 m (75 ft).
Gas from Clipper South will be exported via a 12-in. (30.5-cm) pipeline connecting the platform to the ConocoPhillips-operated offshore LOGGS complex for onward transportation to the Theddlethorpe terminal in Lincolnshire, eastern England.
HFG Vlissingen also built the 1,700-ton, 84-m (275-ft) tall Breagh Alpha jacket, with Heerema Zwijndrecht constructing the 1,271-ton topsides. Following the contract award in July 2010, work on the topsides started last December and on the jacket this March. Construction was completed within a year of contract award. Currently, the Breagh Alpha topsides and jacket are awaiting offshore installation by Heerema Marine Contractors.
The Breagh field is in UK blocks 42/12a and 42/13a in 62 m (203 ft) water depth, 100 km (62 mi) east of Teesside, northeast England.
