BUDE, UKWGP Exploration has started operations on BP’s latest Life of Field Seismic (LoFS) survey over the Valhall field in the Norwegian North Sea.

In 2003, LoFS was permanently installed on the field via 120 km (74.6 mi) of Ocean Bottom Cable. Last year BP contracted WGP to continue provision of the precisely positioned source sub-arrays. These are needed to maintain a high level of repeatability for the permanent reservoir monitoring.

Valhall LoFS is currently in its ninth year, and its 14th survey. BP is using the data mapped over time to provide insight into the geophysical and fluid movements of the field.

WGP has again deployed Thalassa Energy Services’ containerized seismic source system, which was installed during a four-day mobilization onto the back deck of theM/V Stril Myster.

The current survey should be completed by mid-October.
