RIO DE JANEIRO – Petrobras has received three design proposals for a floating LNG terminal to handle some of the natural gas produced from ultra deepwater presalt fields.

The Dow Jones report says Brazil is looking at an FLNG as an alternative to subsea pipelines which would have to cover several hundred kilometers to reach shore. Gas and Energy Director Maria das Gracas Foster said the initial production would come ashore via pipeline with the FNLG facility to handle ramped-up production no sooner than 2016.

The three proposals are from Technip, Modec and JGC; SBM and Chiyoda; and Saipem.
