EDINBURGH, UK – Melrose Resources has completed drilling of the Kaliakra East-1 exploration well offshore Bulgaria in the western Black Sea.
The Palaeocene reservoir interval was found to be eroded at the drilled location and the well will be P&A’d.
Melrose’s next priority is to acquire 500 sq km (193 sq mi) of 3D seismic over the central area of the Galata block to the north of the Galata-Kaliakra field trend.
It has identified three more explorations leads in this area on regional 2D seismic data, with combined prospective resources of 130 bcf. The survey should start in September.
