ROME – Development of the Guendalina gas field off eastern Italy remains on schedule, according to partner Mediterranean Oil & Gas (MOG).
The field is in the AC 35 AG concession, operated by Eni.
Drilling has been completed, with two development wells, Guendalina 2Dir (GUE2Dir) and Guendalina 3 (GUE3), both completed as gas producers. Both were drilled by GSF Key Manhattan to targeted depths (3,290 m/10,794 ft and 3,164 m/13,005 ft). All expected gas-bearing levels were encountered and logged and the wells have been prepared for production.
On GUE2Dir, although level PL3-J3 has been completed for production, the deeper exploration gas target (PL3-K) has not been completed. This level will be subject to future seismic inversion studies to assess potential development.
GUE3 confirmed that the two main gas targets, PL3-I1 and PL3-J3, are gas bearing. An additional gas level (PL3-J), not included in the original development plan, was also positively evaluated and will be completed to production.
Installation of the subsea pipeline connecting the Guendalina platform to Eni’s existing offshore gas production infrastructure also is complete, as is installation of the platform deck. First gas is due late September or early October.
In the Maltese offshore area 4 PSC, Dominion Petroleum has opted not to take up a 75% operating interest for blocks 4, 5, 6, and 7. This is due to the relevant resolutions not being passed at Dominion’s shareholders’ meeting last week. MOG will, however, receive a non-refundable payment from Dominion, and plans to review alternative options for the PSC.
