Gorgon hires FJELL for module transport

ROTTERDAM, the Netherlands – Chevron Australia Pty Ltd and the Kellogg Joint Venture – Gorgon have signed a third contract with Fairstar Heavy Transport NV.

Under the $23.8-million contract, the semisubmersible FJELL will provide marine transport of modules and other equipment over a series of voyages starting in the second half of 2012 and lasting 10 months. The contract may be extended an added nine months.

The Gorgon Project, operated by Chevron Australia, is a joint venture of Chevron (approximately 47%), ExxonMobil (25%), Shell (25%), Osaka Gas (1.25%), Tokyo Gas (1%), and Chubu Electric Power (0.417%).
