PERTH, Australia -- The Clough DORIS Joint Venture (CDJV) looks set to provide offshore integrated project management support for the Ichthys LNG Project 200 km (124 mi) off Western Australia. This follows reception of a letter of intent for a $252 million-plus contract.
The Ichthys LNG project is a joint venture between operator INPEX (76%) and Total (24%). Gas from the Ichthys field in the Browse basin will be partly processed offshore to remove water and extract condensate.
The gas will then be exported to onshore processing facilities in Darwin via an 885-km (550-mi) subsea pipeline. The Ichthys project should produce 8.4 MM metric tons/yr (9.26 MM tons/yr) of LNG and 1.6 MM mt/yr (1.76 MM t/yr) of LPG, along with 100,000 b/d of condensate.
The start of the program is subject to execution of a binding contract and a Final Investment Decision (FID) for Ichthys by INPEX and Total.
CDJV will oversee, in an integrated team with INPEX, the detailed engineering design, procurement, fabrication, at-shore commissioning, tow to site, and offshore hook-up of the central processing facility (CPF) and FPSO for the project.
Under the letter of intent, pre-FID expenditure is limited to the commencement of activities needed to mobilize an engineering team to support the project. This team will likely grow to roughly 300 personnel during the fabrication phase. Full mobilisation should start immediately following confirmation of the FID, expected in 4Q 2011.
