LONDON – BP Trinidad and Tobago (bpTT) has started natural gas production from the Serrette field, offshore Trinidad.

Serrette is in 280 ft (90 m) of water off Trinidad's southeast coast. BPTT holds a 100% interest in the field.

Development is based around a normally unmanned installation designed by Fluor Summit Engineering and constructed locally at the Trinidad Offshore Fabricators (TOFCO) yard in La Brea.

This is bpTT’s fifth platform built in Trinidad using a standardized approach, which has helped boost efficiency and local content, the company says. Serrette’s platform and nine-well slot, four-leg skirt pile jacket were installed in 2010.

Production from Serrette is tied into bpTT's Cassia B hub at Mango via a 26-in. (66-cm) diameter, 32-mi (51-km) pipeline. The platform should deliver an average of 400 MMcf/d of gas and associated condensate from five wells.

Output will be used to supply domestic needs and Atlantic LNG's liquefaction plant for export as LNG to international markets, including the US and Europe.
