HOUSTON – Anadarko Mozambique Area 1 (AMA1) has contracted Technip and KBR for pre-front-end engineering and design (FEED) studies for an LNG facility in northern Mozambique, close to the border with Tanzania.

If the project goes ahead, the facility would be designed to receive, pre-treat, and liquefy lean gas from deepwater offshore fields in Mozambique’s Area 1 concession in the Rovuma basin.

Technip’s contract covers the entire onshore site including marine facilities. The company’s operating center in Houston is performing the work, supported by other Group centers.

The pre-FEED will form the basis for the full FEED phase which is expected to follow in 2012.

AMA1 is led by operator Anadarko Petroleum, in partnership with Mitsui, ENH, Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos, Bharat Petroleum Corp, India, Videocon, India, and Cove Energy, UK.
