LONDON -- Drilling continues in the deepwater Zaedyus prospect off French Guiana, according to Tullow Oil.

The Ensco 8503 spudded the well on March 5, targeting a Late Cretaceous stratigraphic trap, analogous to the Jubilee field offshore Ghana.

Delays have been experienced during drilling, but the well is progressing towards the primary target and a result is expected next month.

Off neighboring Guyana, the jackup Atwood Beacon should start drilling another Jubilee-type prospect, Jaguar. This well should take around 180 days to drill.

In the same region, Tullow adds, Environmental Impact Assessment planning is under way ahead of a planned 2,000-sq km (772-sq mi) 3D seismic survey next spring in block 47, offshore Suriname.
