TRONDHEIM, Norway -- Total E&P Norge has submitted a plan for development and operation of the Atla gas/condensate field in the central Norwegian North Sea.

According to partner Det norske oljeselskap, gas/condensate was proven in the Brent formation, and then followed by comprehensive tests and sampling.

Atla (ex-David) was discovered last October in license PL 102. Under the plan, the exploration well will be converted for use as a production well, connected via a subsea installation to an existing pipeline between the Heimdal complex , 20 km (12.4 mi) to the southwest) and the Total-operated Skirne field.

Total investments will be around $258 million. Recoverable reserves are estimated at 12 MMboe.

This will be the first development project Det norske has participated in. The other licensees are Petoro and Centrica Resources (Norge).
