COVINGTON, Louisiana – The Marine Spill Response Corp. has contracted with Hornbeck Offshore Services Inc. to supply two U.S.-flag multi-purpose support vessels for spill response in the Gulf of Mexico.
The HOS Centerline and HOS Strongline are being outfitted with skimming systems, ocean boom, and a support boat plus enhanced navigation including x-band and infrared oil spill detection. Each 370-ft (113-m) vessel has 24,000 bbl of recovered oil capacity and 30,000 bbl of total liquid storage. They are based in Port Fourchon.
"We are pleased to have this working partnership with Hornbeck Offshore,” said Steve Benz, MSRC president and CEO. “HOS utilized a number of their resources during the Deepwater Horizon incident, and the knowledge and experience they gained will fit very nicely with MSRC's extensive capability in the Gulf Coast."
