Offshore staff

CALGARY, Canada – Ithaca Energy has commissioned GE Oil & Gas in Aberdeen to supply subsea trees and control systems for the Greater Stella Area development in the UK central North Sea.

The initial phase of detailed engineering is under way, focusing on procurement of forgings and materials for these systems, which will be supplied as an integrated package. They will be designed for installation using a heavy-duty jackup.

Ithaca has also started a geotechnical program to gauge the suitability of certain jackups at four potential development drilling locations on the Stella and Harrier fields. The program includes test boreholes in advance of the planned Hurricane appraisal well. Two drill centers will be chosen.

Elsewhere in the sector, preparations have been completed for well 14/18b-A2Z for Ithaca’s Athena field development.

A production liner and a dual electrical submersible pump system have been installed successfully above the well’s horizontal section, and the subsea christmas tree and flowbase are ready for hook-up of flowlines in September.

The semisub Sedco 704 is preparing to complete well 14/18b-16, the second of a five well program of completions (four producers and one water injector) prior to hook-up of the FPSO BW Athena by the end of September.
