HOUSTON – GE Oil & Gas says it will supply three aeroderivative gas turbine electricity generators to Chevron for the Jack and St. Malo FPSO in the Gulf of Mexico.

Chevron’s initial development of the Jack and St. Malo fields will be comprised of three subsea centers tied back to a hub production facility with an initial capacity of 170,000 b/d of oil and 42.5 MMcf/d of natural gas.

GE will provide three LM2500+G4 gas turbine generator modules, each mounted on a three-point support base plate, designed with marine corrosion-resistant materials to overcome footprint restrictions and withstand pitch, roll and acceleration forces anticipated for the FPSO in 7,000 ft (2,134 m) of water.

GE says the turbines will come from its Evendale, Ohio, facility and the generator package assembly and testing will be done in Massa, Italy. Delivery is scheduled to start in December 2011, with FPSO startup early in 2013.
