STOCKHOLM, Sweden -- PA Resources UK has discovered gas at the Broder Tuck prospect in the Danish North Sea. Well 5504/20-4, the first operated by the company in the sector, was drilled in the 12/06 license, 19 km (12 mi) south of the Gorm field.

Following initial problems, the well was drilled vertically to a TD of 3,658 m (12,001 ft) below mean sea level in the Lower Jurassic/Triassic interval. It intersected around 17 m (56 ft) of net pay in good-quality sandstones in the primary Mid-Jurassic target. The reservoir was cored, then wireline log, pressure, and sample data was collected. Well site sample analysis revealing the reservoir fluid to be gas with some condensate.

A gross hydrocarbon column of at least 230 m (754 ft) was encountered from the crest of the structure down to the base of the column. A side track will be drilled to assess the potential for further gas volumes downdip.

PA Resources’ partners in the license are Nordsøfonden (Danish North Sea Fund) (20%), Danoil Exploration, and Spyker Energy.
