    AOD orders third jackup from Keppel FELS

    Mermaid Maritime Public Co Ltd. says Asia Offshore Drilling Ltd. has exercised the first fixed-price option with Keppel FELS Ltd. for construction of a third jackup drilling rig for $184 million.

    BANGKOK, Thailand – Mermaid Maritime Public Co Ltd. says Asia Offshore Drilling Ltd. has exercised the first fixed-price option with Keppel FELS Ltd. for construction of a third jackup drilling rig for $184 million. Delivery is set for 3Q 2013.

    This follows an earlier announcement of Asia Offshore Drilling’s contract for Keppel FELS to supply two newbuild jackups. AOD still has until Sept. 20, 2011, to exercise its fourth jackup order option.
