ABERDEEN, UK – ROMAR International has achieved a milestone with the 50th sale of its Packer Management System (PMS). The latest sale was to Transocean and represents revenue in excess of £2 million ($3.2 million) for the technology within two years of the company introducing it to the market. PMS was designed and built by ROMAR in response to a specific gap in the mobile rig market for an early-warning mud spill preventer system. Due to market research it has been further developed into an automated diagnostic and intervention unit, which provides an early warning to rig staff of a potential mud spillage into the environment. The system also captures a full data history, similar in concept to an aircraft black box. George Yule, ROMAR executive chairman, said: “The success of the ROMAR PMS technology has been a key feature of ROMAR’s business growth and we continue to see a high demand for the system – particularly on the back of recent high profile spillage incidents in other areas as many companies review their spill prevention systems.”
