Pemex tenders $1.2 billion in oil rigs, platforms

Mexico’s state oil company Pemex has announced that it will acquire eight new offshore oil drilling platforms and other equipment worth $1.2 billion.

MEXICO CITY– Mexico’s state oil company Pemex has announced that it will acquire eight new offshore oil drilling platforms and other equipment worth $1.2 billion, in order to expand production in the Gulf of Mexico.

The company said in a statement that the platforms will be used in the Bay of Campeche, and added that seven of them will be able to operate at 344 ft (105 m) water depths, and drill at depths of 25,000 ft (7,600 m). Pemex said it would lease the platforms for various periods.
