BYGNES, Norway – Statoil has awarded Aibel a NOK375 million ($67.75 million)-plus EPC contract for modifications and upgrades at the Kårstø and Kollsnes processing plants in western Norway. Gassco operates both.

The main part of the program involves modifications to the facility handling gas from the offshore Sleipner field at Kårstø. These will allow the plant to also receive and process light oil from Statoil’s Gudrun field, currently under development in the North Sea.

Aibel will also upgrade three booster compressors at Kårstø and five export compressors at Kollsnes.

Modification work on Kårstø should be completed by end-July 2013.
