OSLO, Norway – Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway has issued permits for three drilling rigs involved in separate programs on the Norwegian shelf.
E. ON Ruhrgas Norge has consent to drill exploration well 31/8-1 in the northern Norwegian North Sea, using the semisub Borgland Dolphin. Drilling will start shortly and should last 41 days, rising to 69 days in the event of a discovery.
The location is in production license 416, 75 km (46 mi) west of Bergen and 16 km (9.9 mi) southwest of the Troll field, in a water depth of around 300 m (984 ft).
Talisman Energy Norge has authorization to use the new KFELS N jackup Rowan Stavanger as a temporary living quarters facility on its Yme field development in the North Sea.
The rig can accommodate 120 personnel. However, the quarters will only be used in the “cold phase” before hydrocarbons start flowing through the new Yme MOPUStor platform.
Finally, the PSA has issued an Acknowledgement of Compliance to the newly built GM 4000D semisubmersible COSLPioneer, operated by COSL Drilling Europe.
Yantai Raffles delivered the rig last December. Statoil plans to use it for exploration drilling on the Norwegian shelf.
It can operate in water depths from 70-750 m (229-2,460 ft), and can either be anchored or operate in DP-3 mode. Its living quarters can accommodate 120 people in single cabins.
