OSLO, Norway – Total has discovered gas in the Norwegian sector of the Barents Sea while drilling the Norvarg prospect in license 535.
According to partner Rocksource, well 7225/3-1 has not been completed. However, preliminary well data indicate gas at three different levels, a large part of this in the Kobbe formation.
The partners have decided to conduct a production test to garner information on reservoir production properties. This likely will be performed after the well has been drilled to TD of around 4,100 m (13,451 ft), with operations set to continue for several weeks. Testing means the well will take longer to complete than had been expected.
