SINGAPORE – Keppel FELS is preparing to deliver its third KFELS N-Class jackup to Rowan Co.s.

The 568-ft (173-m) tall rig, extendable to 598 ft (182 m), is designed for harsh weather conditions and for water depths to 500 ft (152 m). It can drill to depths of 35,000 ft (1,067 m) 15% deeper than existing harsh environment jackups, Keppel FELS claims, and can undertake simultaneous drilling and production tasks.

Xcite Energy has chartered the rig for work on its Bentley field in the UK North Sea, but the design is also compliant with requirements in the Norwegian sector.
