SINGAPORE — Ezra Holding Ltd. is due to move an FPSO to Vietnam in the near-term and hopes to work in deepwater in the longer-term, according to an interview with Dow Jones by Lionel Lee, Ezra Group managing director.
The FPSO is scheduled to leave Singapore by the end of this week and head for Premier Oil Vietnam Offshore BV’s Chim Sao oil field in block 12W offshore southern Vietnam. Lee said the vessel can handle 50,000 b/d in production and store 680,000 bbl. Production is scheduled to start in August.
Lee also told Dow Jones that Ezra is in the Gulf of Mexico to get deepwater experience. Ezra’s Aker Marine Contractors delivered and installed 40 km (25 mi) of steel pipe for Shell’s Popeye project in deepwater Green Canyon block 116.
In the longer term, he said, Ezra is looking at deepwater prospects in the Asia/Pacific area. Two examples he cited of such work are CNOOC’s plan to drill four to six deepwater wells in the South China Sea this year, and Chevron’s Gendalo-Gehem gas project in 2,000 m (6,562 ft) of water off East Kalimantan in the Makassar Strait.
