LONDON – EnCore Oil expects to start drilling the Tudor Rose prospect in the UK northern North Sea in September.

This follows a letter of award signed with ADTI for use of the semisubmersible Sedco 704.

The main purpose of the appraisal well will be to establish the gravity and viscosity of the in-place oil, in order to determine whether a commercial development is feasible.

In the central UK North Sea, EnCore is continuing development studies and planning for its Catcher, Varadero and Burgman discoveries on block 28/9.

Further seismic data will be acquired this summer in support of the program. The company and its partners hope to resume exploration and appraisal drilling on the block in late 2011 or early 2012.
