HOUSTON – Dennis Tool Co. has announced the expansion of their radial and thrust bearing manufacturing capabilities. Backed by more than 20 years of experience and 30 patents, the company’s microwave sintered carbide (MSC) inserts are being utilized in the creation of long lasting radial bearings for deployment in downhole positive displacement mud motors (PDM) and turbines. The service life of the highly abrasion-resistant radial bearings is reported to be more than five times those constructed with standard materials. The same MSC material is also used to create substrates which, when bonded under extreme pressures and temperatures with a fine diamond layer, creates polycrystalline diamond compacts (PDCs). The company says that these PDCs are not only used in drill bits and underreamers, but also engineered into high-strength steel rings to produce durable, long-lasting thrust bearings with low coefficients of friction.
