LONDON– Ascent Resources (Netherlands) is considering drilling an appraisal well on the Terschelling Noord discovery in the Dutch North Sea.

Part of the structure is in the M10/11 block in shallow waters off the Dutch north coast. Previous operator NAM made the discovery in 1992, and also found gas in Rotliegendes sandstones with the 1985 M11-1 well.

Ascent says the area benefits from good quality 3D seismic coverage and in addition to the discovery, other prospects and leads have been identified.

The Netherlands Ministry of Economic Affairs is considering Ascent’s request for an extension to the expiration date of its licenses.
