OSLO, Norway – Aker Solutions has taken controlling interests in two Norwegian subsea equipment specialists. Benestad and Phaze Technologies, founded and owned by the Benestad, brothers, are regular suppliers to Aker Solutions and other subsea contractors.

Both are near Aker Solutions' subsea technology and manufacturing center in Lier, Norway. They employ 33 people, with revenue in 2010 of $9 million.

Benestad specializes in products for hostile, extreme pressure and high-temperature subsea environments. Aker views the company’s power and signal penetrators as having the highest functionality available to the industry.

Phaze Technologies provides instruments for detection of hydrocarbon and water leaks, pressure and temperature measurements, and water cut metering. This market is growing due to stricter environmental regulations and the need to optimize production from subsea fields.

Both companies will continue to operate independently with their existing management.
