ASKER, Norway -- TGS-NOPEC has tallied its first-quarter seismic acquisition activity worldwide.
Work on a 7,500-km (4,660-mi) 2D survey in the western Mediterranean started last December and was completed in mid-February. The data is under review in the company’s data processing center in Bedford, UK.
TGS’ Europe/Russia business unit has started a new project to reprocess over 13,500 km (8,388 mi) of 2D data from waters off the Faroe Islands. The company is applying techniques proven in sub-basalt plays west of Shetland region.
In April, TGS completed a 3D multi-client survey off Benin covering over 4,000 sq km (1,544 sq mi) on blocks 5 and 6. Processing is under way in Houston.
In the Asia/Pacific region, the company completed acquisition of its first multi-client 3D survey off Indonesia, a 1,600-sq km (618-sq mi) program in the Tarakan basin of the Makassar Straits. A second 3D survey is under way in the same region, which will provide a further 1,800 sq km (695 sq mi) of data.
And TGS is working on a new 2,700-km (1,678-mi), 2D reprocessing project in the Makassar Straits. The data should be available this summer.
