ASKER, Norway – TGS-Nopec has started its second season of multi-client 3D seismic acquisition in the Moray Firth, offshore northeast Scotland. The industry-funded MF11 survey will add more than 2,500 sq km (965 sq mi) of new 3D data to the previous project area announced last June.

M/V Oceanic Challenger is acquiring the current survey. Data collection should be completed by the end of this summer. TGS also will perform data processing, applying time processing and depth imaging techniques.

The survey area covers open and licensed acreage north and east of the previous project, and included the Halibut Horst trend and acreage close to the Kildare and Buchan fields.

Following completion, TGS expects to have amassed 4,700 sq km (1,814 sq mi) of contiguous data in the area, which will be available to its customers from 2Q 2012.
