SHETLAND, UK -- Three engineering and fabrication companies based in Shetland Island off northern Scotland have teamed with a supply chain management organization to form ZE1 Global.

Ocean Kinetics, Malakoff and LEF, in association with Carisma RCT, will offer large-scale, specialist engineering and turnkey fabrication for major oil and gas, decommissioning, and renewable energy projects from Shetland.

They will continue to operate independently on local projects, but collaborate as ZE1 Global to take on larger-scope contracts, i.e. for field developments west of Shetland and in the North Sea.

ZE1 Global will offer quayside facilities in Shetland and a base in Aberdeen, and the location should reduce steaming time to new projects in the WoS region.

Carisma will use its understanding of supply chain management to help ensure timely delivery of projects, within budget.

Marco Busi, CEO of ZE1 Global, said: “With a number of factors impacting upon the oil and gas sector here in the UK, such as tighter regulation and increased taxes, operators are yet again being squeezed financially. We believe that through our location and excellence in delivery, we can address these issues directly as we are in most cases, closer to the action and at a far more central point to all North Sea offshore operations.”
