Tromsø, Norway -- Eni Norge has entered into a joint agreement with two training organizations to provide instruction in oil spill response operations. Also involved is the Norwegian Clean Seas Association for Operating Companies (NOFO).

The Nordkapp Maritime Training Centre and the Norwegian Fire Protection Training Institute will jointly develop and implement a new training program addressing various aspects of oil spill contingency activities.

NOFO asked for training of fishing vessels crews to be incorporated as part of the contingency apparatus, and of specialist teams assembled to work on the shorelines and beaches in the event of an oil spill.

Initially, the agreement is closely linked to Eni’s Goliat development in the Barents Sea, and should help reinforce contingency strategies in the area.
