Jubilee on course for further expansion

LONDON -- Production from the Jubilee oil field offshore Ghana has increased to over 70,000 b/d from five wells, says operator Tullow Oil.

Plateau output of 120,000 b/d should be attained in July, as the remaining four producer wells are completed and brought onstream. Water and gas injection is also under way.

Planning for the Jubilee Phase 1A project is advanced, and a Plan of Development should be submitted to Ghana’s government later this year, with work likely to start in 2012.

Discussions continue on Mahogany East, in the southeast of the Jubilee area. Options include a standalone development and integration with other discoveries.

Tullow’s forward exploration program for its Deepwater Tano license includes well tests on the Enyenra and Tweneboa fields and two further appraisal wells on Enyenra. A combined Plan of Development will likely be sent to the government early next year.

On the adjacent West Cape Three Points license, operated by Kosmos Energy, the Banda Deep prospect is being drilled, and more wells will follow on the South Central Channel (Makore) and Dahoma Updip prospects.

Farther west, Tullow is participating in a three-well exploration campaign led by Anadarko that will start next month with the drilling of the Montserrado (ex-Cobalt) well offshore Liberia, followed by the Jupiter-1 and Mercury-2 wells off Sierra Leone.

Tullow is involved in further programs off the northern coast of South America. Offshore French Guiana, drilling on the Zaedyus prospect began in March. Delays were experienced while drilling the upper section of the well, and a result is now expected in early August.

Off neighboring Guyana, drilling on the Jaguar prospect in the Georgetown block should get under way at the end of July.
