CALGARY, Canada -- Ithaca Energy has suspended the J03 well on the Jacky field in the UK central North Sea.

The oil column encountered in the Beatrice 'A' sand reservoir was smaller than expected.

Ithaca is considering whether to re-enter the well to complete it as a water injector to help maximize oil recovery from the Jacky field.

The drilling rig Northern Enhancer, currently positioned over the Jacky platform, will now start a workover operation to replace downhole pumps in the J01 production well.
