Hess contracts Farstad for Australia vessel spread

Farstad Shipping has been awarded charter contracts for six offshore support vessels.

AALESUND, Norway -- Farstad Shipping has been awarded charter contracts for six offshore support vessels.

Hess has contracted the anchor handling tug supply vessels Far Sound, Far Sword, and Far Scimitar to support its drilling program in Australia for at least 10 months, starting in May.

In the North Sea the platform supply vessel Far Service has a 24-month firm contract from BP starting in July, with two six-month options. The PSV Far Superior will fill in until Far Service has finished its existing contract this fall.

Finally, Statoil has declared an option to extend its contact for the PSV Far Star by a further 12 months.

Total value of these awards, including options, is around NOK 415 million ($76.5 million).
