ENSCHEDE, the Netherlands/BEDFORD, UK – ARK CLS and dGB Earth Sciences have developed a direct data link between OpendTect and Petrel using the Ocean software development frame.

The 3D horizons, including time/depth, and attribute volumes from OpendTect can be incorporated into Petrel to build reservoir models and to bridge the gap between seismic quantitative interpretation and reservoir models without having to move separate SEG-Y files between the applications.

“The result will be a seamless workflow from the acquisition and interpretation of seismic through to reservoir modeling and simulation and the reaching out of OpendTect throughout the geology, geoscience and geophysics communities,” says Paul de Groot, president and CEO of dGB Earth Sciences.
