Canyon orders second LARS from IHC

Canyon Offshore has contracted IHC Engineering Business to supply a 35-metric ton (38.5-ton) Launch and Recovery System (LARS).

NEWCASTLE-UPON-TYNE, UK – Canyon Offshore has contracted IHC Engineering Business to supply a 35-metric ton (38.5-ton) Launch and Recovery System (LARS). The A-frame system will be used to launch and recover a newly built trenching ROV.

This will be IHC EB’s second LARS for Canyon, having previously supplied a 95-metric ton (104.7-ton) SWL system for the i-Trencher, built in 2008.

The new LARS will be able to launch and recover the trenching ROV in up to Sea State 5. It will be designed over the next few months, prior to assembly and testing at IHC EB’s Port of Tyne support base in northeast England for delivery in 2012.
