LONDON -- Premier Oil plans to sidetrack an appraisal well off southern Vietnam following positive flow tests.
The CRD-2X well in block 07/03 was drilled to a TD of 3,785 m (12,418 ft) MDRT, appraising the Miocene sands discovered by the CRD-1X well in 2009.

The well was deepened from its preliminary TD of 3,109 m (10,200 ft) MDRT to evaluate the Oligocene, which the discovery well had not tested.

Two drillstem tests were conducted on the hydrocarbon-bearing sands in the Oligocene section. The first zone tested flowed 9.7 MMcf/d of gas and 870 b/d of condensate through a 40/64-in. choke.

The second zone tested flowed 17 MMcf/d of gas and 1,730 b/d of condensate through a 56/64-in. choke.

Side tracking the well will help evaluate the distribution of hydrocarbons in the Miocene sands.
