PARIS -- RWE Dea has awarded Technip an engineer, procure, install, and construct (EPIC) contract for the Clipper South gas field development in the southern UK North Sea. The field is in 25 m (82 ft) water depth, 70 km (43 mi) northeast of the onshore Bacton gas terminal.

The contract covers full project management, detailed pipeline design, installation, and tie-in of a 15.5-km (9.6-mi), 12-in. (30.5-cm) production line with 3-in. (7.6-cm) methanol piggyback line from the new Clipper South platform to the LOGGS (Lincolnshire Offshore Gas Gathering system) platform.

Technip’s operating center in Aberdeen will manage the work, which should be completed this fall, with vessels from the group’s fleet performing installations. Another Technip company, Genesis, will contribute detailed pipeline design. Vessels from the Technip fleet will be used for the offshore installation campaign.
